Vacancies

Driffield Town Council has a vacancy in the following Ward:

Driffield South West Ward – 1 vacancy

Closing date – 12 pm – 31st March

In pursuance of the Representation of the People’s Act 1985 s21(2)(a), the vacancies can be filled by co-option.  If you would like to be considered to be a town Councillor, please write a letter of interest outlining the reasons why you would make a valuable addition to Driffield Town Council and send it to: townclerk@driffieldtowncouncil.gov.uk or by hand to the office at Driffield Town Council, 2-4 Market Walk, Driffield, YO25 6BW

Applications to be considered MUST be with the Driffield Town Council by 12noon on 31 March 2026.

Successful candidates will then be invited to attend the full Town Council meeting on 7 April 2026 at 7.30 pm.


To be a councillor, you must fulfil the following criteria on the day of nomination:

A:        Over 18 years old
B:        A UK, EU or Commonwealth Citizen
C:        Registered to vote in the locality
D:        Living or working in the area for one year, or within 4.8 km of the town boundary
E:        Principal or only place of work during the preceding 12 months has been in the locality

You cannot be a councillor if:

A:        You work for the Town Council
B:        You are bankrupt
C:        You have served a prison sentence (including suspended sentences) of three months or more within the last five years
D:        You have been disqualified under legislation relating to illegal or corrupt practices
