Preparations are well underway now for our annual bonfire and firework display on Saturday November 2nd 2019. The event, that features the most spectacular firework display in the East Riding, courtesy of Driffield’s very own Fireworkers, takes place at the Driffield Showground, by kind permission of the Driffield Agricultural Society. Sponsored by our much loved local newspaper, The Driffield & Wolds Weekly, this community event is a brilliant example of what partnership working can achieve. We are also always grateful to the volunteers from the Driffield Rotary and Lions Clubs who attend to help out with marshalling.
The Town Council, forever aware of the financial burden such events can have on families, have for the fifth year running (from memory!) retained the admission price at £3 per adult, £1 per child 5-16 years (under 5’s free). This ensures that everyone can enter, and enjoy the display and the bonfire. George Tuckers fairground rides will be in attendance as well as a number of food outlets. Car parking is free and if you are walking the pedestrian entrance at Town Gate will also be open to access the event.
The bonfire is built by our Tidy Team, Andy and Chris with items from local businesses. We require nothing further as the bonfire will now be big enough.
We would ask, although it always falls on deaf ears, that people do not park along the bypass to watch the display for free – ITS NOT FAIR and really rather stingy of you as the entrance fee is pretty paltry in the greater scheme of things.
We look forward to seeing you from 4.30pm on Saturday November 2nd – the bonfire is generally lit at 7pm with the display following about 7.15pm.
