Work begins on DTC new depot

workmen

Work begins this week on Driffield Town Council’s new operational depot at Skerne Park.  Consultations were held in September 2018 and a subsequent decision was taken by the council to embark on this, their most ambitious project to date, in January, after successfully securing finance of £350,000 from the Public Works Loan Board.

The Town Council’s need to relocate their operational services from the former pumping house at North Street, leased from the Environment Agency to a proposed purpose-built unit at Skerne Park Industrial Estate received universal support from the public.

The new facility is easily accessible within the town and will enable the council to securely house all their vehicles and equipment, not just at present but also to ensure their necessary and inevitable growth in equipment and probably manpower to meet the inevitable additional demand our growing town will have in the future.

The role of the Tidy Team has grown and developed to such an extent (and with it the equipment necessary to carry out their duties) that there is no longer any room to operate safely or securely from the current building.
